John passed away Friday afternoon at his home in Alamo after an extended battle with Multiple Myeloma. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; two stepchildren, Jessie and Sam; sisters,Caroline, LInda, Becky and Mary; and his father, John B. Thune. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 16th at Hull's Walnut Creek Chapel, 1139 Saranap Ave., Walnut Creek, CA
John was a great skier. My husband, Rennie, was also a great skier, who raced and was a ski instructor for several years after college graduation. They would have enjoyed hitting the slopes together!!!
Good skier! John was a great skier! I remember going to Badger Pass with my folks when I was in junior high. It was my first time down "the big hill." John was there with his parents and he zoomed in and out as I inched my way down. He was terrific!
He was also a good friend. I got to know John and his sister Caroline while in grade school, and both were wonderful people. I am truly sorry that he has passed away.

John played in the band and he was very good. He really enjoyed sking and he was quite good.
