KURT DANA LUNDBLAD

May 20, 1942 - July 31, 2014

BIOGRAPHY

When asked how he wanted to be remembered Kurt replied,

"I was a peacemaker, I always tried to do the right thing. I loved

and was loved in return."

Kurt was a native of the San Francisco Bay Area. He attended

Miramonte High School and was a graduate of the University of

Colorado. He received his commission in the Navy to Ensign

through the Aviation Officer Candidate Program in April 1966. His

first assignment was as an attack pilot flying the A-7 Corsair II

from the USS ENTERPRISE as a part of Attack Squadron 146. During

this cruise he flew 52 combat missions in Vietnam. He rose to the

rank of Captain in his military career. At the end of his active duty

he flew first for Western Airlines then Delta Airlines until his

retirement. He and his wife, Anne, have been members of St.

Mark's church for 7 years.

God saw he was getting tired,

A cure was not to be,

So He put His arms around him

And whispered 'Come with me'

With tearful eyes we see him suffer,

And watch him fade away.

Although we loved him dearly

We could not make him stay

A golden heart stopped beating,

Hard working hands at rest,

God broke our hearts to prove to us,

He only takes the best.

A memorial service will be Thursday, August 7th at 11:00am in the

small chapel at St. Mark's Catholic Church (2727 W. Tangerine Rd.,

Oro Valley, AZ 85737)

Final resting place is to be decided and memorials may be made to

the charity of your choice.

The Lundblad family wishes to thank everyone for the show of

love, support and kindness received.

Our families were very close.  Though Kurt and I didn't fraternize a lot in school, we took camping vacations together at Webber Lake and in a rented cabin on the American River at Kyburz and our parent's socialized togeqther a great deal.  Kurt and I would go fishing and hiking while our parents played bridge. I have notes about one of our adventures together in my book project journal.  Kurt's dad was our dentist and associate Dean at UCSF School of Dentistry.  He got me interested in dentistry, health care and academic curosity. It led to me attending UCSF.  The Lundblad's were an influential force in my family's life.  I send my heartfelt condolences to Kurt's survivors and thank them for his service to our country..
