Ronald Arthur Brown

Obituary |  Condolences

Ronald Arthur Brown Resident of Orinda Ron, 67, an Orinda native, died suddenly on February 14, 2009 while he and his wife Joan were vacationing on Maui. Ron had a passion for the outdoors and for California history. He was an avid hiker and photographer, and for more than 20 years he worked to expand and maintain the Bay Area's open spaces through the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council, East Bay Regional Parks, and the Orinda Hiking Club. Ron was a loving person, devoted to his family and friends. He was a wonderful conversationalist with a wide range of interests and a sharp sense of humor. Ron had the unique ability to grapple with life's challenges and to emerge stronger because of them. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Joan, his son Jeff (Kelly Hicks), his daughter Lisa Tillotson (John), his grandson Jace Tillotson, and two sisters, Robin McKenzie and Carolyn Simmons. We will miss him terribly. A celebration of Ron's life will be held on Friday, March 13 at 11am at the Brazilian Room in Tilden Park. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council, 1007 General Kennedy Ave., Ste. 3, San Francisco, CA 94129 or the East Bay Regional Parks District, Ivan Dickson Trail Maintenance Program, 2950 Peralta Oaks Ct, Oakland, CA 94605.
